reverber light released for free

Okay, sorry for the immense lack of updates as of late.

Work was taking over big time again. But it all was and still is for the greater good, both mine, that of my company and that of all small to big, indie to major artists and labels out there (read: everyone, to be honest. Gotta be a bit patriotic here... ;)

Welcome the reverber!

In the past few weeks my time was spent developing an online music promotion software. The "reverber" (and i still have to confess, i really like the name), to be more specific the light version which is free of charge, was just released to the public. If you are an artist or label owner (or really anyone who wants to promote something utilizing the web) just register at:

http://app.reverber.de/registration/new

As mentioned it is completely free. The feedback throughout the popkomm this month was immense and we're really looking forward to release the first professional version later this year, in december.

For all of you lazy people who don't like following links or reading boring press releases I will briefly sum up the features which you can expect:

  • Organize your files like mp3s, images, documents, etc into groups and add necessary meta data (called Assets)
  • Maintain your press and media contacts with the full-featured contact details inside reverber and group them into pools for easier targetting of specific contact groups (called Partners)
  • Associate Assets and Partners, groups of Assets and Partners, groups of Partners and Assets or even groups of Assets and groups of Partners
  • Add custom download limitations per Partner
  • Declase an Asset as public, making it freely available through an unique URL, or, if you're like me and like to blog about music frome time to time, just use the built in embeddable mp3-flash player to display an public Asset in your own blog straight away
  • Every partner has his distinct login including an overview of Assets associated to him with helpful details like the number of times he already downloaded specific Assets or the maximum amount of times he will be allowed
  • Send emails to your Partners including links to all Assets associated with them, or just the ones that weren't mailed before

I could go on like forever I think, not even mentioning features of the first professional release including water marking, gathering structurized feedback through feedback sheets, managing the sampling process of physical assets for traditional music promotions with cds and vinyl, managing the shipment for traditional promotion to cut postage costs and so on.

I hope I was able to convince you to have a look at this fantastic piece of software yourself, as i can't stress it enough, it is completely free of charge. The professional version will be commercial with different subscription plans as a Software as a Service (SaaS) product, probably in early december.

And as an additional service, the press release and some links:

"27.10.2008:
reverber – the web based professional music promotion tool hits the market

Taktsoft presents new Software as a Service solution for the music business

Bonn, Germany, October 27th 2008 – Taktsoft GmbH & Co KG announces the introduction of reverber, a brand new web application for music promotion. It is designed to support professional promotion processes whether in promotion agencies, music labels or for individual musicians.

reverber helps users to make information available to media partners, jounalists and co-workers via download, stream or physical distribution. reverber offers a professional workflow in a completely sealed and safe online environment. The software strictly follows RESTful architecture principles and therefore brings a complete Web Service API along.

The first release of the software is a now available free of charge light version. It contains core features such as contact management, contact pools, file management, downloads, password protection and an integrated music player. Registration for reverber light accounts is available via the product website www.reverber.de.

The professional version is expected to be released in December 2008. Besides a collection of improvements from user feedback and additional features like statistics and watermarking, the professional version offers expanded disk space on the reverber host server. Professional versions of reverber are starting at a charge of 75 Euros per month."

And to end this little promotion campaign of mine (I really had to write about it here, as, personally, I'm really convinced that this will be the way music promotion will work in the future and as chief developer behind the software I also know just HOW good this software is made (can I hear you say Ruby on Rails, ReST, XML-exports, test coverage and an extraordinary development team? ;)).

Hopefully i will be able to post more regularly again, so stay tuned!
